Segment LCD

A Segment LCD, also known as a digit segment LCD, is a type of display designed to show or hide fixed segments at specific positions. It is primarily used for simple characters and digits, serving as an alternative to LED digital tubes (which consist of seven segments to display numbers 0-9). Common applications include calculators, clocks, landline phone displays, and other devices where simple numeric information is shown.

Advantages

Disadvantages

  • Can only display pre-defined digits and characters (based on the custom-designed mask)

  • Changing the display content requires producing a new mask
