ST7567A

The ST7567A, manufactured by Sitronix, is a highly integrated single-chip dot-matrix LCD controller and driver designed for small to medium-sized monochrome graphic displays. It directly supports up to 132 segments and 65 commons, making it an excellent choice for 128x64, 96x64, and similar resolution LCD modules commonly used in COG (Chip-on-Glass) designs.

One of the most significant advantages is its exceptional interface flexibility. It supports multiple host communication protocols, including 8-bit parallel (6800/8080), 4-line SPI, 3-line SPI, and I²C. This allows engineers to select the optimal interface balancing pin count and data throughput for their specific microcontroller, greatly simplifying system integration.

The chip integrates a built-in oscillator and comprehensive power system on-chip, including voltage booster, regulator, and follower circuits. This minimizes external components, reducing overall system cost and PCB footprint while enabling stable LCD driving voltage generation. Power supply and contrast can be finely adjusted via software commands using "Electronic Volume" and "Regulation Ratio" settings.

Power efficiency is another core strength. The ST7567A features a low-power design with a dedicated Power Save mode that stops internal oscillation and power circuits, significantly extending battery life in portable devices. It operates within a wide voltage range (1.7V–3.6V for logic) and temperature range (-30°C to +85°C), ensuring reliable performance across diverse application environments.

Additional functionality includes flexible display control features like inverse/normal display modes, read-modify-write for efficient data updates, and selectable scan direction, offering developers extensive control over visual output. These attributes make the ST7567A a proven, cost-effective, and versatile solution for industrial instruments, medical devices, and consumer electronics requiring high-quality monochrome display performance.
